Will need the powered lift rating to fly it, as well as at least the private certificate, complex/high-performance sign-offs, and a type rating in the specific plane. Plus the fuel burn on takeoff would probably be about 3,000 pounds to get you up to cruise altitude in six minutes. That's roughly 450 gallons of jet fuel at $6/gallon. Then you'd burn another 8,000 pounds per hour cruising along. Hows that go? If you have to ask.....you can't afford?

Man, even if I was filthy rich, I don't know what I'd do with it besides pay a guy to demo it at shows because I would have no clue how to combat fly the thing. It's plenty cool though.

I'd be thinking about this carefully. The plane hasn't flown for 13 years, and is missing parts. Art Nalls spent somewhere around 2.5 million GBP on his, plus another million, and two years, to get it flight ready.

Now, if you want to have your own Harrier museum, that's a nice price. Get the missing panels for that second fuselage and you've got two static displays, plus an engine, and a cockpit you could have converted into a simulator.

Yep. Nalls says $250 per minute to fly. That Pegasus is fuel hog:

'I use up 50 gallons of fuel just getting from the hangar to the runway. At the beginning I was fuelling up so often the local aviation authorities got on to me wanting to know why I required so much jet fuel. When I told them it was for my Harrier, there was silence at the end of the phone.
